When asked why I began photographing food, the answer always goes back to a five-hour long holiday meal outside of Florence. While living there and studying painting, I was also shooting a lot of black & white film, finding endless inspiration in the food traditions in the region. These are a selection of photos from and inspired by multiple visits, including excerpts from Leah Koenig’s cookbook Portico, coming out summer 2023.
